Si Kahn
Democracy Activist and Singer/Songwriter
Saturday, Sept 16, 8:00 p.m.
Unitarian Society
120 Main Street, Northampton
For the past 10 years, Si Kahn has fought the "prison-industrial complex," the privatization of prisons in the south. His book, The Fox in the Henhouse: How Privatization Threatens Democracy, coauthored with Elizabeth Minnich, was recently published. He will speak about his work.
But he is also nationally known for the songs he writes and sings of his 40 years of political struggle and he will sing from his just-released 15th CD, Blood from Stone.
Si Kahn has worked as a civil rights, labor and community organizer and musician in the Southern United States. His songs are beautifully crafted folk classics, timeless and telling.
This is a benefit concert for the Greensboro Justice Fund.
